The Santaverde Finca in Andalusia

The Santaverde Finca in Andalusia.

On our finca the hills of Estepona, the aloe vera plant is cultivated organically, harvested by hand and freshly processed. The special microclimate in Andalusia, which is characterised by an alternation between warm summers and cold winters, enables the plant to store nutrients sustainably. Combined with the highest possible naturalness in the cultivation and processing of the aloe vera leaves, we obtain aloe vera gel of the highest quality on our finca.

All year round, everything on our finca revolves around the valuable raw material aloe vera.

Aloe vera from certified organic cultivation

Aloe vera Plant.

The cultivation of the fields according to the rules of certified organic cultivation and the year-round care of the plants are done exclusively by hand. Organic cultivation gives the plant its natural growing time and allows it to accumulate all the valuable active ingredients over the years.

More about the processing of pure aloe vera juice in our cosmetic products and the unique formulation can be found here.

Harvesting the aloe vera leaves by hand

Harvesting of the aloe vera leaves.

After the sunniest months of July and August, the main harvesting season begins. Only the ripe plant leaves in the fields are removed from the mother plant by hand. To do this, each individual leaf is gently scratched at the base of the leaf and pulled off the plant stem with gentle physical force, without damaging the mother plant. The freshly harvested leaves then go directly to the finca for further processing.

Fresh processing of the aloe vera in the Laboratorio

The Laboratory in the middle of the aloe vera fields on the Santaverde Finca.

Pure manual labour also ensures the naturalness and the richness of the active ingredients of the precious aloe vera gel from which the pure juice, the main ingredient of all Santaverde products, is extracted. No machine can replace the hand and eye of humans here. The freshly harvested leaves are processed in our modern production laboratory in the middle of the aloe vera fields immediately after harvesting - this guarantees the extraordinary freshness of the precious aloe vera gel.

First, the leaves are freed from soil residues and carefully washed. After separating the thorny sides of the leaves and the hard outer skin, the soft inner leaf fillet is removed. Then the transparent gel fillets are selected according to quality and purity.
